Welcome! My name is Peter Strong, and I am a professional psychotherapist. I live in Boulder, Colorado, and I offer online therapy through Skype. Skype Counseling is becoming increasingly popular, mostly because of the convenience of online therapy. It means that you can see a psychotherapist from the comfort of your own home. This can be very important if you are suffering from social anxiety or agoraphobia, where it has become really difficult to leave home. Also, if you live abroad in a foreign country, Skype Therapy will be an ideal option, and indeed, many of my clients are living abroad as expatriates, working abroad, some in the Middle East, others in Europe, in non-English speaking countries, and many in Asia, where it is very difficult to find a local therapist to work with. The style of psychotherapy that I offer online is called Mindfulness Therapy, which has been growing tremendously in popularity in recent years. Mindfulness Therapy provides a way of working with your unresolved emotions in a very direct way, cultivating awareness and cultivating friendship toward your emotions, developing a relationship with them that allows them to transform and heal. Most people react to painful emotions like anxiety or depression with aversion and resistance. But, aversion only makes things worse and actually prevents the transformation of anxiety or depression. Healing and resolution occur only when you can fully embrace your emotional pain with this compassionate awareness that we call mindfulness. It may be hard at first, but it is the most direct route to overcome anxiety and depression.
